Delicious food for happy people.
Located in the heart of the island on the road that goes up to Sant Joan—only 10 minutes away from Santa Eularia and Santa Gertrudis—Can Guimo is a must stop if you’re in the north and you’re feeling hungry.
It’s a fresh, sunny day and the terrace is full. I’m having a coffee with almond milk inside while I decide what do I want to order (by the way, they have all the vegan kinds of milk you could wish for, something that is not that common in many restaurants). People are friendly, you can tell as soon as they arrive that they like this place and they come pretty often, and it feels like an oasis for those that find it by chance.
Everything is colourful here: the tables, the menu, the walls and, of course, the food. Defined as super healthy food (and for a reason) it all looks too tempting. On the fixed menu you’ll find goat cheese or pumpkin and quinoa salads, quiches, vegan snacks, tapioca, croquettes, calamari, burgers, and milanesas. Meat lovers, vegetarians, vegans… They are all welcome here.
On the daily menu (it changes every day, but just for you to have an idea of what you may find): vegan miso soup, azuki and quinoa with roasted veggies and mustard sauce, stuffed sweet potato with chickpeas, sundry tomato, black olives, coriander, and soft goat cheese (vegan option available) with tahini sauce, or beef meat with chimichurri sauce and homemade chips. A rich world of flavours to arouse the senses…
However, my recommendation is to save some space for the homemade desserts: they have vegan Oreo, Ferrero Rocher, energetic choco blocks, vegan cheesecake, apple crumble, and chocolate brownie.
The kitchen is open, and the heart, too. You can see the chef Juanpi preparing each dish with true dedication, and you know that what you’ll get is honest, real, tasty food. They use seasonal and local products, and they do a lot of take-away, so it’s a perfect plan to grab some food on the way and spend the day on the beach—but I warn you—once you’re here, you’d love to stay.
Can Guimo is a family business. Esteban and Carol opened the restaurant 6 years ago, and their Argentinian and Brazillian roots give that special touch to the international menu. They’ve always dreamed to have a place like this and offer quality food, and a warm meeting point for the neighbours and those who love, and you can feel that.
So, if you’re craving for this just-like-home feeling, then you should definitely come. When food is made and served with love, something happen.
