Can Terra Ibiza

Located in the very heart of the city, Can Terra Ibiza is THE place if you’re looking for delicious pintxos, a good and affordable menu, and a lively ambiance.

I will never forget my first week on the island. I was living in Barcelona and moved to Ibiza after I received the confirmation for a job position I was longing for. I was a creative writer again, so I didn’t mind that the season was over or that I didn’t know practically anyone on the island (except for my ex). I arrived on a 24th October, it was fresh but sunny, nothing could be wrong…

Later, as the driver took the streets of Platja D’en Bossa, it all suddenly became the scenery of a Far West movie. Chains on the doors, strong wind coming from everywhere, and not even a soul outside. Ibiza felt like a dessert and I was a lonely camel, thirsty and hungry, wandering around and thinking: what have I done with my life?

Thankfully, my new mates at work were cool, and after a few days, they invited me to join them at Can Terra after office. Then, a miracle happened: I SEE PEOPLE!—and no, they are not dead—and FOOOOOOD! As soon as I crossed the door, the warm temperature and the smell of that busy kitchen made me feel like home.

A huge variety of delicious, hot, and freshly prepared pintxos were waiting for us on the bar, and the staff welcomed us with the widest smile. Can Terra (which would be something like “from the earth”) is a fabulous restaurant inspired by the Basque cuisine, where from the early hours of the day to the last ones of every night, you can delight yourself with a coffee, a draft beer, a glass of wine or a cocktail, whatever you choose to accompany the hot or cold tapas, and a varied menu of meat, fish and salads, served in abundant dishes, just as they do in the north.

Ox sirloin, peppers “del padrón”, scrambled eggs and mushrooms of the season, Iberian pork with mashed potatoes and caramelized onion, grilled prawns flambé with tequila and lime, or fresh red tuna tenderloin with wasabi mayonnaise, are some of the exquisite dishes on the menu.

It’s so cozy and friendly that many times I went there for just a coffee (yeah, right) and stay until they had to close. Plus, the service is fantastic. Even if the place it’s always full of people, they are fast and never forget you. You can tell the owners are friends and they love their place. The prices are friendly and the quality is excellent (things we can not say about many other venues in Ibiza).

More than a bar or a restaurant, it is a meeting point where you can see familiar faces and have a good time. And, no matter what season it is, inside Can Terra is always summer. So… What are you doing tonight?
