“El Secreto de Ibosim”, the first eco movie in the world, is shooting in Ibiza

Supported by the Consell d’Eivissa, Moda ADLIB, and many other organizations, the film will pay tribute to the essence, the values, and the beauty of the island.

El Secreto de Ibosim tells the story of Manuel (Rodolfo Sancho), a relentless, attractive and vertiginous young businessman, who—after losing it all—is inexplicably rescued in the middle of the sea by a woman, Tànit (Ángela Molina), a mythological creature, Phoenician goddess, and protector of Ibiza. A mature fisherman (Micky Molina) wounded by life; a romantic girl (Xènia Tostado) running away from the world, and many other characters inspired by real people, will discover together the meaning of life and what really matters through this journey.

Miguel Ángel Tobías, the creator, producer, and director of the film, said: “I’ve known Ibiza for 25 years and whenever I could I’ve escaped to what I consider the most wonderful place in the world. Now, I wanted to give back to Ibiza everything it has given me, making this film as a gesture of gratitude, and seeking to honour the island and everything that represents: a privileged place in the Mediterranean.”

About the plot and the production, he explains that “Ibiza is deeply aware of sustainable tourism and I wanted to capture this essence throughout the film, showing the quality of life and how the residents protect the environment; the harmonious coexistence with the tourists, and the optimal use of resources, respecting its authenticity.”

To do so, El Secreto de Ibosim is the first eco-film production in the world: the vehicles are electric, the transfers of material and people between the peninsula and the island are arranged by sea to ensure a smaller carbon footprint, and the locations are all real.

We couldn’t be more excited and happy about it!
