If there is something mythical in Ibiza beyond its nightclubs and secret coves, it is Es Vedrà, a rocky island in the middle of the sea, full of mysticism and legends.
The islet is 413 meters high and is completely uninhabited, as it is currently protected and is part of the nature reserve of Cala d’Hort.
Myths and legends

Some say that after the North Pole and the Bermuda triangle, it is one of the most magnetic points on Earth, and we do not know if it is because of this (Es Vedrà is composed of limestone, not magnetic elements), or because of its beauty and immensity, that many myths and legends are hidden behind it.
Some say that this is where the famous Greek mermaids lived, who, with their beautiful singing, bewitched sailors and lured them to death.
Another of the theories and myths surrounding Es Vedra is that it is the birthplace of the goddess Tanit. This goddess is associated with fertility, the moon, love, war and, above all, the protection of Ibiza.
The only thing we know for sure is that when you approach the islet, especially at sunset, you will feel a magical sensation in your body, because the sight of it is captivating and captivating.
How to visit it?
We recommend sunset as the ideal time to visit Es Vedrà, although its magic is alive at any time of the day.
The islet is protected, so the best way to see it is from a boat or from the bay of Cala d’Hort. If you choose the latter option, you can enjoy a sunset with a drink in hand, as there are numerous bars and restaurants from which to watch it.
Also, another option, if you prefer to escape from the hustle and bustle of the people and be in the middle of nature, you can go to the Torre des Savinar, or the Torre del Pirata. We suggest you take a short excursion there, to make the most of all that the island has to offer.
