Ibiza means beach, sunsets and gastronomy, but also popular culture and heritage. And when summer arrives, the Festes de la Terra, a festival that lasts from July 27 to August 15, paying tribute to Santa Maria de les Neus and Sant Ciriac.
During these two weeks, more than 50 free activities are scheduled for the islanders to enjoy their festivities: from children’s and sports activities to concerts, shows and cultural events.
The official opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 2 on the Paseo de Vara de Rey, with a display of traditional crafts, a parade of carts and ball pagès. In the evening, at 10:00 pm, Parc Reina Sofia will host a musical tribute to Queen.

Exhibition of traditional crafts and trades of Ibiza
During the afternoon of August 2, the Passeig Vara de Rei will be filled with booths displaying crafts and samples of crafts of the island.

Ball de pagès
The ball pagès is the traditional dance of Ibiza and Formentera, an ancestral dance that is performed at local festivals and celebrations.
The dancers wear typical costumes, and the dance symbolizes ancient forms of courtship and communal union.

Sa Berenada Popular
The berenars populars (collective snacks) began to be held in the 19th century, at the beginning of the summer, in places like Illa Plana or ses Figueres. Later they moved to Puig des Molins, organized by the neighbors themselves, and were repeated for Sant Jordi, Sant Joan or Sant Pere.
In 1915, 110 years ago, one of these meetings was integrated for the first time in the Festes de la Terra, and since then they are part of the program. Today they continue to be celebrated with music and very good atmosphere, keeping alive a custom that unites generations.
