With the end of the season of parties and discos, of eternal days on its secret beaches and the heat of summer, Ibiza in winter is transformed and has a unique and magical charm for all those who like to enjoy the island without the characteristic summer bustle.
For us, Ibiza in winter is a little hidden treasure that few people know about. You can enjoy nature walks, visit empty coves or participate in some of the cultural activities that the island offers during this season.
For this reason, we bring you the best plans to enjoy the white island out of season.
Strolling through Dalt Vila, the old town that is a World Heritage Site
Dalt Vila, in the capital of Ibiza, has been the scene of the passage of numerous civilizations, from Phoenicians, more than 2,500 years ago, to Arabs, Byzantines and Catalans.
Thanks to the archaeological traces of all these civilizations, the walled enclosure was declared a World Heritage Site in 1999.
During your walk, you can visit some of the local museums. In this way, you will be able to delve deeper into the history and traditions of the island. And, above all, we recommend you not to miss the Cathedral of Santa Maria, a must if you visit Dalt Vila.
And for us, walking through Dalt Vila is to live the history of Ibiza first hand, a cultural experience that we recommend not to miss.
Hiking on the island

Beyond the summer heat, the weather in Ibiza during the rest of the year is quite pleasant. So if you like nature and hiking, we suggest you put on your boots, grab your backpack, pack a sandwich and hike miles of cliffs, forests and mountains.
Visit the hippie markets

Ibiza’s hippy past may not be as latent in its day to day life, but there are refuges in which you can breathe its essence of the 60s and 70s. These are markets like Las Dalias, which offer visitors the experience of that island that seems lost.
Although in the summer season Ibiza’s hippie markets extend their opening hours, many remain open in winter. For us it is a great opportunity to see the stalls and stores without being crowded.
Visiting secret coves all to yourself

In summer, no matter how hidden the coves are, they tend to be crowded. Therefore, we believe that visiting them in winter is a unique opportunity to enjoy their beauty.
And although we can not bathe (or perhaps the most daring if), to spend a day in the sun with some sandwiches and the views on your own in a paradisiacal beach is priceless.
You can go at any time and you will not find dozens of bathers as in summer, but you can even be quiet in some of the most famous coves (which are best avoided in summer).
So yes, winter is also an ideal time to discover secret corners and coves in Ibiza.
Charming villages

One thing we love about our island, are the small villages, with low houses and pedestrian streets. One of our favorites is Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera, one of the most charming villages of Ibiza.
It is located in the center of the island, so we recommend going by car or bus, and stands out especially for its bohemian atmosphere. It is full of art galleries, craft stores and creative spaces.
In addition we also recommend you to taste the gastronomy of the island in its bars and restaurants, which have become famous for their ham sandwiches and peasant bread.
Patron saint festivities without overcrowding
What better plan than to get to know a village thanks to its patron saint festivities? Although Ibiza is the capital of discotheques and clubs, it still maintains the tradition of its own festivals which, for us, have nothing to envy to the others.
We highlight in January the festivities of Sant Agnès, where you can see ball de pagès and other Ibizan traditions.
Also in January the Sant Antoni festivities are celebrated and you can enjoy the Sant Antoni Trucks Festival in the port, where dance, music and gastronomy are combined.
