Where to celebrate the Balearic Day in Ibiza

Races, tournaments, concerts, feasts, workshops, and much more!

Every 1st of March since 1983 that the islands of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera celebrate their public holiday, honouring the date that they were officially recognized as autonomous governments. The celebrations in Ibiza started yesterday night with the screenings of the 3rd Short Film Festival at the Regio cinema—and it was super nice!. Each work shined for a reason, all of them received big applause at the end, and the emotion you feel after seeing a good film was the whole night in the air…

The program for Friday is very sporty (with musical and foodie surprises):

Petanque/bowls tournament in Passeig de Joan Carles I, from 9 am to 2 pm.

Basketball tournament at Sports Pavilion in Carrer Joan Pau II, from 9 am to 1 pm.

Football for equality in San José’s football field, from 10 am to 1:30 pm.

Chess tournament at the “Sede del Consejo Insular”, from 10 am to 12 pm.

Horse races at San Rafael, from 12 pm to 1:30 pm and 5 pm to 6 pm.

And then, most of the activities are happening at the “Recinto Ferial” (the exhibition centre in Ibiza town):

Isle of the Dragons, Otaku Island, and the participatory tour of ‘Eivissa Stop Plastic‘ from 11 am to 9 pm

Artisan market and music shows from 11 am to 6 pm

Children’s auto games from 12 pm to 2 pm.

Popular lunch at 3 pm

Jugger’s show at 5 pm

Muriel Grossmann Quartet in Concert at 6 pm

Besides, remember that the Archeology Museum of Ibiza and Formentera will open doors from 10 am to 12 pm until the 3rd of March, and there will be more things going on during the weekend. Click if you want to see the full program on the government site.

Happy Balearic Day!
